How To Take Advantage of the Energy Upgrade California Rebate Program

Time may be running out to benefit from a rebate program throughout the state. It’s called Energy Upgrade California. This year, the rebates were reduced, but the program is still active and if you meet the requirements it can put money into your pocket that may not be available to you a year from now.
Our experts at Sanborn’s Air Conditioning & Heating are ready to explain the program to you, the advantages and the drawbacks. At its simplest, Energy Upgrade California is a state program to help Californians save energy and conserve natural resources. The ultimate goal is to reduce electrical demand and ease stress on the electrical grid. As a result, the funding comes from customers of investor-owned utilities throughout the state and is under the direction of the California Public Utilities Commission.
From our standpoint at Sanborn’s, it is a very complicated program with relatively small rebates for the cost of the upgrades required. In order to qualify, the project has to be pre-approved and the home must meet stringent testing standards.
In addition, the home itself can fail the testing for various reasons, many of which have nothing to do with the actual work performed on the HVAC systems. For example, a home might fail because the construction is either too “leaky” or too “tight.”
We want to emphasize we will be happy to work with you to find out if you qualify and determine if your unique situation makes it worthwhile to jump through all the hoops required to receive the rebate.
At the same time, we will be happy to spend time talking with you about other ways Sanborn’s can make your systems more efficient to save money and lower power consumption without all the red tape.
